Scott's NY Times Letter Published Today

My parents are kvelling.

To the Editor:

Re “Can We Laugh? Yes, We Can” (Weekend section, Nov. 7):

As one of the few standup comedians who do political humor every day, and not just during historic presidential campaigns, I am thrilled about Barack Obama’s victory. Instead of rooting for him to stumble or bumble, as some comedians in the article do, I am looking to the Obama administration for inspiration and hope, not just comedic material.

To borrow the words of our last transformational president, John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for political comedians, ask what political comedians can do for your country.” And for those who ask whether comedians like me will be able to find jokes that are as intelligent as the president we seek to satirize, the answer is “yes, we can.”

congrats, Scott! timely and cleverly said.
We who enjoy satire know there are still many jokesters in politics and industry whose outrageous behavior will fuel your creative fire.

Meanwhile, we're busy here in Auburn organizing to support change in the new congress & white house, as well as just pulling together to protect the most vulnerable from the economic disaster. "Dancin' in the Streets" - our Inauguration for Change celebration on ML King weekend - will raise money for food pantries and homeless shelters.
